Our mutual Rotary project “High Swing” in the Skaryszewer Paderewski-Park, Warsaw
The German – Polish Gardens in Warsaw
The philosophy behind the German – Polish Gardens:
Combining the garden cultures of Germany and Poland a symbol of the German-Polish friendship is to developing and will become a constant element of the Warsaw park landscape. The initiative follows directly on the jubilee year on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the signing of the German-Polish Neighborhood Treaty.
The aim of the initiative is to provide people, groups and companies with a quiet and friendly place to contemplate or spend their leisure time outdoor. The gardens are designed to draw the attention of the visitors, especially the younger ones, to the fauna and flora and to educate the view for the garden cultures of Germany and Poland. Against the background of burdensome environmental influences such as smog and noise in the urban centers, it takes into account the need for green living spaces as part of the modern smart cities.
The German-Polish Gardens in Warsaw will be only the third project of a Friendship Garden across the world with the participation of Germany, and hopefully very soon be considered in line with the two existing facilities of this kind, the German-French Garden in Saarbrücken (1960) and the German-American Friendship Garden in Washington DC (1983).
